Akbar set their house ablaze after strangling and stabbing his wife but firefighters succeeding in saving the baby from the flames. A second man, identified only as Vahid, was executed for stabbing a 71-year-old grocery shopkeeper, identified as Asghar, during a failed robbery in 2003. The two were hanged in Tehran's Evin prison.
