Unnamed man executed in Jolfa Prison
According to Rokna, a man was executed at an unspecified date in Jolfa Prison. The unnamed man sentenced for murder.
The report states that the executed man had set fire to a house with two other men on 17 April 2009, which had caused the death of a pregnant woman and her six-year-old child.
His execution was carried out after half the diya was paid by a public fund as a woman’s diya is half a man’s. One of his co-defendants is also awaiting execution and another has managed to escaped the gallows after the victims’ family chose to forgo their right to retribution.
