02 October 2023 - Assailant of Azerbaijan's embassy in Iran sentenced to death
The individual who carried out an armed attack on Azerbaijan's embassy in Tehran has been sentenced to capital punishment, APA reports citing Azerbaijan Television (AzTV).
It has been reported that the verdict regarding Yasin Huseynzade has been confirmed by Iran's Supreme Court.
Note that as a result of the armed attack on Azerbaijan's embassy in Tehran on January 27, 1 person was killed and 2 others were injured.
The perpetrator passed by the guard post with a Kalashnikov rifle and opened fire inside the embassy, while its staff tried to neutralize him. The head of the embassy's security service, Orkhan Asgarov, was killed in the attack, while two guards were injured.
On January 29, a total of 53 embassy staff and their family members were evacuated to Baku.
