IRANIAN OFFICIAL DENIES YOUNG AFGHAN PRISONERS EXECUTED

the deputy foreign affairs minister of Iran dismissed the report of the presence of young Afghan men in Iranian prisons and the execution of two of them. Meanwhile, Afghanistan's Independent Human Rights Commission has said that two young Afghan men have been executed after spending several years in prison and a number of others have been kept for execution.
According to the Human Rights Commission, these young men will be kept in prison until they reach to the legal age for execution. The Iranian deputy foreign affairs minister, said that drug smugglers who are minors will be tried in a special court for children, and will not be sentenced to death. In fact, anyone who commits this crime, be they Iranian or foreigners will be dealt with through legal channels. “We do not keep young people in our prisons so that they become older. All legal proceedings will be processed in the courts. Every suspect has the right to have a lawyer. His lawyer can help him/her based on regulations and laws.”
