Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri-al-Maliki said that courts in the country had sentenced 260 people to death in the past two years. Of those death sentences, 22 had been carried out. Al-Maliki made the fact known to underline the necessity of swiftly bringing before the courts and executing those accused of violence.
