IRAQ: CENTRAL CRIMINAL COURT SENTENCES THREE DRUG TRAFFICKERS TO DEATH
Iraq’s Central Criminal Court has sentenced three drug traffickers to death for their involvement in the trafficking of narcotic substances, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported on October 6, 2024.

According to a statement from the Supreme Judicial Council Media Center received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “The first convict was apprehended with 111 kilograms of narcotic amphetamine, while the other two were found in possession of narcotics intended for trafficking and distribution among users.”
The statement further clarified that “the sentences were issued in accordance with the provisions of Article 27/1 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017, along with evidence from Articles 47, 48, and 49 of the Penal Code.”
