Iraqi Council of Ministers extended the application of article 197, of the Iraqi Penal Code of 1989, applicable to economic crimes punishable by death to the stealing of electricity, Iraqi daily paper "al Mashraq" reported. The practice of taking a line from the national network of electricity is common practice in rural and urban deprived areas in Iraq.
