Irate relatives of soldiers slain in action during the PKK terrorist campaign in southeastern Turkey protested against political leaders in Ankara by chanting slogans aimed at them during the funeral of an officer who died during clashes with renegade PKK militants defying terrorist leader Ocalan's calls to lay down their arms.
President Suleyman Demirel and Cabinet members received their share of the slogans for their recent statements calling for a delay in the execution of Ocalan. For the first time at a funeral ceremony, army officers and soldiers dressed in civilian clothes also shouted protests.
