a Lebanese military court issued a death verdict against an Israeli officer charged with assassination of two Palestinian fighters. The two Palestinian fighters were killed when a car bomb exploded in Lebanon's third biggest city, Saida, 35 kilometers south of Beirut, on May 28, 2006. According to IRNA, the court announced that the Israeli officer, accompanied by two mercenaries, infiltrated Lebanon, planting bombs in the cars of the two Palestinian fighters. The Lebanese military court sentenced the perpetrators to death. The Israeli intelligence officer was said to have left Lebanon through the Jbeil port after entering the country and committing the criminal act.
