It was reported that relatives of Osvaldo Torres, a Mexican awaiting execution in the US state of Oklahoma, would submit 12,500 signatures to the Prison Pardons Board on his behalf to strengthen their plea for a stay of execution. "The Oklahoma Pardons and Conditional Freedom Board meets on May 7, and some of Osvaldo's family will travel up with the signatures," the convict's cousin Brenda Torressaid. Torres was condemned to death for the murder of a married couple, and his execution was scheduled for this May 18. Some 50 family members and friends of Osvaldo Torres joined workers taking part in Monterrey's May Day Parade in order to plead for solidarity for the Mexican facing death in a US jail.
