It was reported that Slovakia's Justice Minister Daniel Lipsic said capital punishment was a "plausible system of penalty, which does not make corrections possible." The same article stated that Real Slovak National Party boss Jan Slota called for the death penalty to be applied in cases of brutal or mass murders, adding that it should be applied only in absolutely unambiguous cases. Slota stated he was certain that if there were a referendum on the reintroduction of the death penalty that at least 75 per cent of the population would vote in favour of it.
