It was reported that the Supreme Court commuted to life imprisonment a death penalty imposed by the High Court on Robert Mugwanda. Mugwanda had been convicted of fatally stabbing a man with a knife after accusing him of stealing $50 from his two sons. The court reversed an earlier finding by the lower court that the murder was actually intended and without extenuation.
