defence lawyers for Kazuyuki Wakabayashi, 30, have appealed his death sentence to the Sendai High Court in Japan. Wakabayashi, a house painter from Gonohe, Aomori Prefecture, was sentenced to death by the Morioka District Court last month for choking Noriko Ueno, a 52 year old office worker, and her 24 year old daughter Yuki in July 2006. Wakabyashi broke into their home in Iwate Prefecture, stole items including 20,000 yen in cash and then abandoned their bodies in nearby mountains.
