Joan Chebichii Sawe, the widow of former permanent secretary Alexander Sawe has filed a notice of appeal in the High Court challenging the death sentence handed to her last on March 17. Sawe, a nurse by profession, was found guilty of murdering her husband on the night of 1 to 2 September in 1998, in Nairobi West. The judge had described the circumstances that led to the burning of Sawe to death as the most brutal form of domestic violence.
