Justice V K Rajah of the Singapore High Court dismissed

Justice V K Rajah of the Singapore High Court dismissed the appeal by convicted gunman Mr Tan Chor Jin, the former triad member nicknamed "One-Eyed Dragon." Mr Tan, 41, was found guilty in May, 2006, of shooting nightclub boss Lim Hock in his Serangoon flat on Feb 15, 2006. Mr Tan had said the victim owed him money. The three judges dismissed the claims that Tan did not get a fair trial as he had been denied adequate legal representation and that being kept in isolation "in excess of 220 days" had subjected Mr Tan to "mental torture". Tan had chosen to conduct his own defence after he discharged his appointed lawyer in August 2006. The detailed grounds of the court's decision will be delivered at a later date.
Tan’s lawyer will file a clemency petition with President S R Nathan when the court's grounds of decision are released. Should the petition be denied, Mr Tan would hang in six months.
