A court has upheld a death sentence imposed on seven men who murdered two fishermen on Lake Victoria.
Homa Bay High Court had found David Ongata, William Ayugi, Tilleny Odhiambo, Silas Onyango, Tiberious Ododa and Peter Otieno guilty of murdering Lameck Olima Ochieng and Felix Ouma Odhiambo at Dhogunda Beach in Suba.
The seventh suspect, a minor, disappeared before the case was concluded.
The court had been told that the two men were on a fishing expedition before they were attacked on the nights of August 16 and 17, 2010.
The prosecution presented 15 witnesses, including nine eye-witnesses, who accused the suspects of committing the heinous murders.
The convicts claimed that they were innocent and that the witnesses who testified against them in the lower court had given conflicting accounts of the incident.
