KUWAIT: APPEAL HEARING OF DEATH ROW CONVICT ADJOURNED

the Court of Appeals in Kuwait adjourned the hearing on the mental abilities of a Kuwaiti man, identified as Mohammed H., who was sentenced to death for premeditated murder. The hearing was adjourned to March 2, 2008, because a report from the Psychiatric Hospital was not received. On March 10, 2007, the Criminal Court sentenced Mohammed to capital punishment and ordered to refer the case to the Court of Appeals within one month. Mohammed suspected his Asian servant had robbed him and took the victim to a desert camp and beat him severely. He tied the man to his car with a rope and dragged his body for a distance until he died. He then untied the body and drove off. The session was presided over by Judge Saleh Al-Muraishid.
