The Appeals Court on 30 December 2018 upheld the verdict of the First Instance Court which sentenced a Kuwaiti man to death by hanging for beating and torturing to death a five-year-old girl in Qussor.
The higher court also commuted the death sentence imposed on a Kuwaiti woman – the girl's mother – to 10 years in jail.
Case files indicate that in early August 2018, the Operations Unit in the Ministry of Interior received a call from the mother saying her daughter fell and was no longer moving.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location and they found traces of beating and torture on the girl's body.
