Kuwait’s Cassation Court changed life sentences to death

Kuwait’s Cassation Court changed life sentences to death for two officers charged with causing the death by torture of a Kuwaiti national.
An appeals court in December had ruled that the two officers would serve life in prison, but the highest court in the country has now ruled that they should be executed for their act.
The court, however, upheld the other sentences that included 15-year sentences against four officers and a two-year jail term against another officer for their role in the death of Mohammad Al Mimouni in January 2011.
Initially, 20 officers were referred to the prosecution, but the court acquitted 13 suspects.
All officers will be sacked from the police after serving their terms, local news sites reported.
