Datin Zahari, Datuk Skinner and Datuk Albert of the Malaysian Appellate court upheld the death sentence of P. Balan Subramaniam for murdering his wife R.Angeladevi, 48. Balan allegedly covered his wife in kerosene and set her ablaze at their house in the Kinta District of Perak on October 11, 2004. He was sentenced to death by the Ipoh High Court.
