MALAYSIA: FOUR INDONESIANS GET DEATH SENTENCE

Four Indonesian men were sentenced to death in Malaysia after the High Court found them guilty of trafficking over 28kg of drugs four years ago. Judge Datuk Zamani Abdul Rahim, who made the decision, said: "The statements made by the accused were not acceptable and the witnesses were not reliable. The four – Dwi Suprianto Mei, 45, Fredy Hermawan, 42, Andy Paksi, 40, and Indra Mulyadi, 42 – were charged with trafficking 10.74kg of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and 17.36kg ketamine at 243, Jalan Batu Ferringhi at about 9.30pm on Oct 27, 2009. The charge was read under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence. During the arrest of the four, police busted what was believed to be the biggest drug lab in the state at the time, where drugs being seized from the house, were valued at RM38 million. Dwi Suprianto and Andy Paksi were represented by lawyer Ranjit Singh Dhillon, while counsel Hussaini Abdul Rashid represented Fredy Hermawan and Indra Mulyadi.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Suhaimi Ibrahim prosecuted the case.
