MALAYSIA: MAN’S DEATH SENTENCE UPHELD

Judge Mahmud, Yunus and Hj Ma’ah of the Court of Appeal in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, upheld the March 11, 2005, death sentence of Filipino Albi Burahan Amiril, 34, for trafficking in 104.98 grammes of syabu at Karamunting Port in Sandakan on November 2, 2000.
Albi was tried under Section 39b (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which provides for the mandatory death sentence by hanging on conviction.
