Two friends were sentenced to death by the High Court in Kuala Lumpur for drug trafficking.
In finding both men guilty of drug trafficking, Judge Datuk Nordin Hassan when handing down the death sentence said the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt to the prosecution’s case.
He also said the accused defence were mere denials and fictitious.
“The defence also had failed to prove that both the accused were not involved in drug possession and trafficking.”
Ng Kim Chong, 37, a contractor and Hoo Moon Hong, 37, a car accessory shop owner were found guilty of trafficking 38.3g of heroin and Nonoacetylmorphines at G Tower, Jalan Tun Razak at 9.10pm on Feb 11, 2015.
After the court had adjourned, Hoo’s mother fainted in court when she was told by a court staff that her son had been sentenced to death. Relatives and court staff managed to revive her after a few minutes while Hoo, who was clad in red prison uniform, looked helplessly from the dock. Ten prosecution and four defence witnesses were called during the trial. Both men were represented by Datuk P. Nagarajan while deputy public prosecutors Ezrene Zakariah and Nabila Ahmad Po’ad, acted for the prosecution.
