Larry Matthew Puckett, 35, white, was executed in Mississippi.
Puckett was sentenced to death on Aug. 5, 1996 in the Oct. 14, 1995, sexual assault and slaying of Rhonda Hatten Griffis, 28.
Puckett becomes the 2nd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Mississippi and the 17th overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1983. Puckett becomes the 10th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the1287th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
