Mongolian death row prisoner Buuveibaatar, 33, had his death sentence commuted after being granted a pardon by the country's President, Tsakhia Elbegdorj.
Buuveibaatar allegedly murdered his former girlfriend’s new boyfriend in January 2008.
His father claims he acted in self-defence.
Buuveibaatar was sentenced to death by the Bayangol District Court in the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar, on August 1, 2008. He will continue to serve a prison sentence.
Buuveibaatar allegedly murdered his former girlfriend’s new boyfriend in January 2008.
