The Italian Prime Minister, Romano Prodi, told the Senate: “Recently we have engaged in a significant battle against the death penalty. With our proposed moratorium to the UN General Assembly, we have become the leader of a grand battle for civility.”
Prodi added “it is a long battle that requires all our available energy: political, cultural and religious.”
