according to the decision by the Ja`ar court, a woman in Yemen faces the death penalty for murder. Lima, a mother of five children from the Al-Mahefed district was jailed for murdering her brother in law after he tried to molest her in her house three years ago. Lima’s lawyer Al-Maqatri said the sentence was decided far too hastily, being declared immediately after she was admitted. He said her family forced her to confess because of their misplaced belief that "a woman is never sentenced to death like a man" and evidence identifying the real killer had gone missing. Al-Maqatri stated that there is sufficient evidence to prove her innocence. According to Al-shoura net, Lima’s husband divorced her after the crime, despite doing nothing after being told about the repeated attempts to molest her. She was put in jail with her 40 day old baby.
