Munawar Hussain Munj, a former member of the National Assembly (lower house) from the central province of Punjab, was sentenced to death for drug trafficking. He had been charged after officials found 35 kg (77 lb) of heroin and 30 kg of hashish in his car near Lahore in 1995.
