NGOs working in the field of human rights condemned the verdict of stoning to death of a woman by a Kohat court and demanded that proper justice be done to the woman

NGOs working in the field of human rights condemned the verdict of stoning to death of a woman by a Kohat court and demanded that proper justice be done to the woman. At a meeting in Karachi the NGOs demanded that the case be reinvestigated independently and the culprits be caught and awarded exemplary punishment.
They also demanded that the woman, Zafran Bibi, who had been convicted under the Hudood Ordinance, be given security till a new investigation of the case was completed. They demanded that the laws discriminating against women be abolished and the government fulfil its promise of make laws that do proper justice to women, soon.
Representatives of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Shirkatgah, Women Action Forum and Amnesty International attended the meeting.
