NIGERIA: COURT SENTENCES MAN TO DEATH FOR KILLING FRIEND IN FIGHT OVER CAP
A High Court in Kano has sentenced one Adamu Isma’ila Arzai to death by hanging for killing his friend during a fight over a cap, Daily Post reported on May 13, 2025.
A High Court in Kano has sentenced one Adamu Isma’ila Arzai to death by hanging for killing his friend during a fight over a cap, Daily Post reported on May 13, 2025.
The incident happened in 2016 while Arzai and the victim, Auwal Shehu Kabara, were on their way to Bauchi for a business trip. A disagreement over a cold cap turned violent, leading Arzai to stab Kabara.
During the trial, the prosecution, led by Wahida Isma’il, called five witnesses to support the case. The defendant also testified in his own defence.
In his judgment, Justice Muhammad Musa Karaye ruled that the prosecution had proven the case beyond reasonable doubt and found Arzai guilty of murder.
He was sentenced to death by hanging.
