the Nigerian Supreme Court affirmed the death sentence by hanging of John Ogbu and Linus Eze, found guilty of murdering Basil Ezian on October 12, 1986, over a minor disagreement caused by excessive drinking.

the Nigerian Supreme Court affirmed the death sentence by hanging of John Ogbu and Linus Eze, found guilty of murdering Basil Ezian on October 12, 1986, over a minor disagreement caused by excessive drinking. The convicted had been drinking with a friend when they met Basil at a bus stop, an argument ensued and when he refused to end the discussion Basil was beaten to death. The trial court convicted the pair of culpable homicide and the Jos division of the Court of Appeal also affirmed the death sentence.
