Nigeria voted against the resolution on the death penalty at the 60th UN Commission on Human Rights.
Hands Off Cain sent a note of disapproval to President Olusegun Obasanjo regarding the events in Geneva.
"The position expressed by the Nigerian delegation at the Commission on Human Rights is in grave contrast with the personal committments against the death penalty and in favour of an international moratorium on capital executions directly expressed to us by you," reads a letter signed by Hands Off Cain Secretary Sergio d'Elia and Lista Bonino MEP Marco Cappato.
