Nigeria's Minister of Women's Affairs, Hajiha Aisha, said that the Miss World pageant scheduled to be held in Nigeria in December was a private event run by a private company and does not concern the government. Her comments followed the decision by candidates from Spain, Belgium and France to boycott the pageant in solidarity with Amina Lawal a Nigerian woman sentenced to death by stoning for having a baby out of wedlock.
