North Korean leader Kim Jong Il has ordered all drug users to be executed by shooting, the Russian newspaper Komsomol Pravda reported, citing a senior Russian official.
Konstantin Pulikovsky, who serves as Russian President Vladimir Putin's special representative to the Russian Far East, made the disclosure in his soon to be published account of Kim's visit to Russia in 2001, the newspaper said.
Kim's draconian drug policy apparently aims to make it known that North Korea is firm on the issue of drug abuse.
"I will subject all those who sell or use illegal drugs to a firing squad, and have ordered that Chinese drug traders be beaten with sticks," Kim reportedly said to Pulikovsky.
