On April 28, hundreds of white "coffins," representing victims of the hundreds of inmates on California's death row made the pilgrimage to the state Capitol. They asked Gov. Davis to adopt a policy that would forbid convicted killers from communicating via the Internet. They also want family members to be allowed in courtrooms during murder trials. Davis, who spoke briefly at the rally, told the crowd he had declared April 25 to May 1 as Crime Victims' Rights Week. "Too long in this state," Davis said, "the victims of violent crime were expected to suffer silently and passively, out of sight, out of mind."
