On February 24, Luzhou City Intermediate Court in Sichuan sentenced Zhou Yan to death on charges of corruption. Zhou Yan, an employee of the Jiangyin Power Supply Bureau in Luzhou City, embezzled more than 3.8m yuan ($460,000) from the bureau from 1996 to 1998.
