On January 29, the request to extradite Turkish citizen, Yakup Kyursat Yilmaz, was rejected by the District Court of Varna because he faces the death sentence in Turkey. The panel of judges approved the extradition of Yakup Yilmaz so that he could serve out previous sentences in Turkey; but the court rejected the appeal for extradition on charges of predetermined and intentional abetting to the murder of a person. Under the Bulgarian criminal code of procedure, no extradition should be allowed when it entails a capital punishment and this norm is imperative, said magistrates, commenting on the court's decision.
