On January 8, Pakistan's Supreme Court issued an interim order to stop any executions imposed by military courts in from being carried out until the following week. The 7-member Supreme Court bench asked the attorney-general to give an undertaking on behalf of the Federation (Government) that executions would not take place until the court rules on the validity of military trial courts established in Sindh under Ordinance XII of 1998. The attorney-general agreed to abide by the court's ruling and said that no execution would take place till January 11.
