On July 8, as reported by London-based newspaper Al-Sharq al-Awsat, Bayan Jabr, representative of the Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution in Syria and Lebanon, said that after the haphazard arrests made in the wake of the incidents that occurred in Rumaythan in mid-May, which targeted the Security Directorate and the Ba'th Party's branch, the authorities executed a number of detainees and strict orders were issued to demolish their homes. He added that 4 of those executed belong to the Bani Hujaym tribe (Al Abd al-Husayn), which is known - alongside other neighboring tribes - for its resistance to the Baghdad regime.
