On June 15, a court in Jijel condemned to death, in absentia, 4 of the 16 Islamic terrorists accused of having killed 7 Italian sailors, the whole crew of "Lucina," during the night of July 6 and 7, 1994 in the port of Djendjen. The following day, the court, after a two-hour meeting, sentenced Draa Chabanne, who admitted to being the material executor of the 7 murders, to life imprisonment, and gave Azzedine Yahiaoui 10 years and Abdellah Kahel Semmane 5 years, as his accomplices.
