On June 29, District and Sessions Judge M. Majibar Rahman awarded the death penalty by hanging to Nur Mohammad Nazir Ali (30) of Zonail village in Baraigram District for abducting a girl of the same village on August 12, 1997 while she was returning home from a nearby village market in the afternoon. The convict kept her confined in his house, raped her repeatedly and slaughtered her when she shouted for help.
