On March 21, about 180 Iraqis were executed in Basra's al-Sabkhah suburb, and 56 others were executed in the province's security prison on March 23, the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution, an Iran-based leading dissident group, reported on April 14. These executions were ordered by Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's cousin, Gen. Ali Hassan al-Majid, the military commander of southern Iraq. The government did not comment on the report.
