On March 25, four men, Zakaria Hassan Naddawi, 25, Walid Mohammed Jamal Youzbashi, 25, Azzam Ali Raai, 29, and Khaled Mohammed Jamaleddine, 47, were charged with the premeditated murder of Omar and Doha Mrad in 1997. The fifth, Mikhail Mtanios Ashour, a 49-year-old from Homs in Syria, is still at large and is believed to have masterminded the armed robbery of L'Azur Jewelry, during which the couple were killed. They could face the death sentence if convicted.
