On November 11, a Thai man was among 36 people executed in a fresh crackdown on crime in Guangdong Province, southern China. Preecha Saengthong, 43, listed under the Chinese translation of his name as Bicha Xiangtong, was taken to the execution ground with his mainlander partner Zhu Guikang after a court in Guangzhou, the provincial capital, upheld their death sentences. They were arrested in 1994 for smuggling marijuana into China by sea.
