On November 17, it took five guards to force Desmond Jennings, a 28-year-old Texan sentenced to death in 1993 for murdering a couple of drug dealers, to undergo execution by lethal injection. Earlier, to get him out of his cell and make him climb aboard the patrol wagon that would take him to Huntsville Prison, 20 kilometers away, where he would be put to death, prison officers actually had to use gas. Even after he arrived at his destination, Jennings didn't give up: put in another cell to wait until everything was ready, he desperately fought off his executioners, who had to drag him out and overpower him to strap him to the gurney on which he would receive the poison in his veins, and they only succeeded after various attempts.
