On October 19, Sadewo Joedo, speaking at the Third Committee of the General Assembly on items 107, crime prevention, and 108, international drug control, said that it is the responsibility of each country to establish its own domestic laws, and the position taken by respective countries on the death penalty should be respected. "While we respect the decisions of some countries to abolish the death penalty, they too should respect the different conditions that exist in many other countries," he said.
