PAKISTAN: 16,000 ARRESTED FOR TERRORISM, 1,900 PUNISHED, 346 SENTENCED TO DEATH IN 2013-17, SENATE TOLD
The Interior Ministry has told the Senate that from 2013 to 2017, over 16,000 people were arrested for terrorism charges and 1,900 were awarded punishments.

The Interior Ministry has told the Senate that from 2013 to 2017, over 16,000 people were arrested for terrorism charges and 1,900 were awarded punishments.
Out of the total 16,000 people who were arrested, 10,993 were from Punjab, 2,728 from Sindh, 1,967 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 147 from Balochistan, 126 from Gilgit-Baltistan and 61 from Islamabad.
Out of those who were awarded punishments, 1,970 are from Punjab, 255 from Sindh, 234 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 54 from Balochistan, 10 from Gilgit-Baltistan and 10 from the capital.
As many as 346 persons were awarded death sentences.
