leading human rights activist Ansar Burney urged Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to commute the death sentence of Indian national Sarabjit Singh and other foreigners languishing in Pakistani jails to life imprisonment. "The death sentence of all foreign prisoners who have spent a long time on death row in Pakistani jails, including Indian national Sarabjit Singh, should be converted to life imprisonment on humanitarian grounds," Burney said. Burney will travel to India on April 2 to gather evidence of Sarabjit's innocence from his family and to meet Pakistanis held in Indian jails. "Sarabjit has already spent 18 years in jail. Every day on death row is like a year, as it is worse than hell," Burney told reporters.
