PAKISTAN: FOUR GET DEATH SENTENCE FOR RAPE

Additional District and Sessions Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan awarded the death sentence by hanging to Iqbal, Riaz, Rafaqat and Asjad Nawaz for abducting and raping Abida Yasmin, 25. The four were also awarded life imprisonment for abduction, seven years imprisonment for forcibly intoxicating her, five years for taking her nude pictures, two years for stealing her ornaments, one year for beating her and three months for seducing her. Each of the convicts will pay Rs30,000 as fine according to the verdict. According to the details of the case, Abida Yasmin, who worked in an education consultancy in Saddar, was kidnapped on Bank Road by four persons who took her in a car with forged registration to a construction site in Gulrez on July 11, 2005.
