PAKISTAN: MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER

Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Ali Zulqarnain in Lahore awarded death sentence to a man, Aurengzeb, for murdering a girl in a robbery attempt.
The court also directed the convict to pay Rs. 200,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the victim girl. In case of default in payment of fine, the convict will also face jail term for six months.
However, the court has granted life imprisonment to co-accused Zubair along with an imposition of a fine of Rs. 200,000. The two convicts had murdered Arifa Riaz (22) during a dacoity attempt in 2004. Later, Badmi Bagh police had managed to arrest both Aurengzeb and Zubair. On Tuesday (March 18), the court after hearing the final arguments of both parties convicted Aurengzeb and Zubair.
